    Jay,

I went to purchase the book on Safari.

    Price: 67.48 - book + PDF + online access.

Not too bad, I thought. I went ahead and put in my details.

Then the price came up as $117: $67 for the book, plus $30 shipping (international) + $20 sales tax.

This is a bit much. The most I've ever paid for international high-priority shipping for a book is $13 - that was a Pragmatic Programmer's book in June.

And what's with a $20 tax on a $67 book? I've never, ever had to pay *any* sales tax for purchasing books online.

I know this isn't your problem (I've sent a separate e-mail to Safari about it), but you might as well know it has stopped me buying it.

    Hi Derek,
I'm sorry it was a disappointing experience for you. I would say it's my problem; unfortunately, there's not anything I can do about it.

I guess you could always buy the pdf and get the book when it's available locally.

I totally understand your hesitation though. Hopefully you'll get a good response from Safari.

    Cheers, Jay

  3. Just buy it online. I am in South Africa and am used to the extremely high shipping costs. So I just bought the online version. It seems the best buy. Plus if you want to have the printed book on the cheap, you could probably buy that later on amazon or something. This doesnt seem like a program that is designed for print sales or they would lower shipping costs.

    My advice...go digital.
